SLIM DIME

Slim Dime are an acoustic folk duo. Their music references the simplicity and space of old time mountain music. Fog soaked valleys and mountain ash forests: a blend of rural and urban, a combination of originals and classics. Old-time, dark and debaucherous, guaranteed to stir up timeless feelings of yearning, love and heartache.

Jen Land commands your ear’s attention with the tender strength of her vocals, while Chris Taylor’s warm and bright guitar carries each song from sweet beginning to bitter end. The arrangement is minimal – acoustic guitar, tenor guitar, banjo and vocals. There is complexity in Slim Dime’s music, which radiates from the raw subject matter they delve into. Completely unapologetic and unafraid to find those human things we all feel.
Jen Land & Chris Taylor have been playing together for the last 10 years making country tinged music in as bands such as The Original Smith Family and The Bitter Sweets. They presently play in Slim Dime and the Prairie Kings – a Western Swing Boogie Woogie 6 Piece band and Slim Dime – an acoustic duo.

Their debut album, recorded at Incubator Studios by candlelight Hold Fast is a mesmerizing country folk journey, with solid song writing and beautiful renditions of traditional songs. Their second album – Travelogue was recorded by Matt Walker & Rowan Matthews at their Stovepipe Studios, Produced by Matt Walker & mastered at Deluxe Mastering by Adam Dempsey. A collection of 13 songs played live, collected by an awesome collection of vintage microphones. The songs are new, original but sound as though they’ve always existed, somewhere on a mountaintop…

Slim Dime have performed at Festivals such as Fleurieu Folk Festival 2014, Blackwood Festival of Music and Culture 2014, The Great Alpine Pick 2015 & 2016 and Foggy Mountain Bluegrass Festival 2015. In 2016 they look forward to playing all over Australia sharing their new album - including a trip north to NSW & QLD - playing at the BUG on June 21st 2016 and a sojourn to South Australia - not to mention a swag of Festivals.
